In summer, Baden transforms into the rose city par excellence. Hundreds of rose varieties bloom around the historic grounds and lend the park an almost otherworldly splendour. The grounds have been revised several times over the decades, yet have always preserved their original character.

Beethoven, Emperors and the Healing Waters

What captivates me about this park time and again are the stories hidden in every detail. Ludwig van Beethoven recuperated in Baden and left traces here that remain visible to this day. A monument recalls his stays in the town. Emperor Franz Josef was also a regular guest, and it is easy to imagine how imperial Vienna found its summer peace here.

The historic drinking hall is a reminder that spa guests once took the sulphurous healing waters daily, convinced that they strengthened body and nerves. The magnificent congress and theatre building always stood as the cultural centrepiece of this small world of recuperation, music and social life.

An Atmosphere That Stays With You

The thermal baths remain close by to this day, and the park has retained its original role as a place of rest and reflection. Those who walk slowly here and look carefully will find not only nature but a living layer of Austrian cultural history. This atmosphere, calm and yet rich in meaning, is what makes this place so special. It reveals itself simply by walking through it.
